Prices Up 16 Cents In Two Weeks

Gas prices are soaring

The national average price rose about 16 cents over the last two weeks, according to the latest Lundberg survey.

The average price of regular was $2.96 a gallon as of Friday. Mid-grade was $3.08, while premium was $3.19.

Oil industry analyst Trilby Lundberg said the nation's lowest prices were in Newark, N.J., where a gallon of regular cost $2.73, on average. The highest was in San Francisco at $3.28.

According to the AAA Fuel Gauge Report Web site, regular gas prices were about $2.20 per gallon one year ago. Diesel fuel prices have reached a record $3.32 per gallon.
