“Fancy Pants” Bacon Mac ‘n Cheese
Makes 4 side portions
4 strips bacon, diced into ½ inch pieces
1 clove garlic, chopped
6 oz heavy cream
4 oz chicken broth
6 oz shredded cheddar cheese
2 oz shredded parmesan cheese
½ teaspoon black pepper
8 oz (uncooked weight) noodle of your choice
½ cup seasoned, dried breadcrumbs
Set oven to 350. Cook pasta to al dente, drain and set aside, while that is cooking, cook the bacon until almost crisp in a medium oven-proof skillet. Add the garlic and allow to soften in the bacon fat. Add the cream, bring to a boil, add the cheeses and drained pasta, top with the seasoned bread crumbs and put into the oven until lightly browned and bubbling. Careful, it will be HOT!
1 cake baked according to box directions or your own recipe from scratch (9x13 pan)
1/2 cup of butter cream frosting (home made or from scratch)
1 package of candy melts (purchased from craft store)
1 package of lollipop sticks (purchased from craft store)
Toppings for pops; sprinkles, nuts crushed cookies or candy.
Bake the cake according to directions.
After cake cools, combine the cake and frosting in a bowl with gloved hands, until it resembles a dough.
Roll the mixture into balls a little larger than a walnut. Chill balls in refrigerator for at least 1 hr. melt coating in a microwave bowl in 90 second increments stirring in between. Dip stick in to coating
and then into ball coating entire pop. Quickly sprinkle with sprinkles or toppings (they dry fast). Set pop into a container filled 2/3 full with granulated sugar to help it stand up.
Repeat with remaining cake balls.
