Trojans' Simmons Undergoes Surgery

POSTED: 11:59 pm PDT September 19, 2008

(Sports Network) - Southern California sophomore guard Marcus Simmons is expected to be sidelined eight-to-12 weeks after undergoing surgery to remove excess bone growth in his left leg due to an ankle injury last season.

Trojans head coach Tim Floyd made the announcement Friday concerning the surgery, which was performed Tuesday by Dr. David Thordarson at USC Hospital. Simmons saw limited action in 15 games last season as a freshman due to a high ankle sprain suffered on the first day of practice.
