Syracuse's Devendorf Granted Extra Year

POSTED: 1:43 pm PDT September 22, 2008

(Sports Network) - Syracuse University guard Eric Devendorf has been granted an extra year of eligibility by the Big East Conference after missing most of last season with a knee injury.

Devendorf will be classified as a senior academically, but will now have two seasons of athletic eligibility remaining.

After starting 10 games as a junior last season, Devendorf suffered a torn ACL in a December 15 contest against East Tennessee State. The university applied to the conference for a hardship waiver and it was granted in part because he did not participate in 30 percent of his team's 35 games.

Devendorf averaged 17 points per game last season.
