Los Angeles, CA -- (Sports Network) - Aron Baynes scored 20 points and collected eight rebounds to lead the seventh-seeded Washington State Cougars to a 62-40 victory over the 10th-seeded Oregon Ducks in the opening round of the Pac-10 Tournament at the Staples Center. Caleb Forrest added 14 points for Washington State (17-14), while DeAngelo Casto tallied 10 points in the win. Tajuan Porter was the only player in double-figures for Oregon (8-23), as the guard scored 20 of the team's 40 points. The Cougars shot a stellar 60.9 percent from the field in the first half and went into the break with a 34-22 lead. Washington State used more of a defensive approach in the second stanza, holding the Ducks to a pathetic 20.0 percent shooting display, en route to the 22-point win. The Cougars outscored Oregon 28-10 in the paint and also dominated the team on the glass, outrebounding the Ducks by a 37-24 margin. Washington State will now participate in the quarterfinals on Thursday when the Cougars take on the second-seeded UCLA Bruins.
