Lincoln, NE -- (Sports Network) - Toney McCray scored a game-high 17 points off the bench to help the Nebraska Cornhuskers post a 63-46 decision over the San Jose State Spartans in a non-conference clash. McCray also pulled down nine rebounds for Nebraska (1-0), which has won 26 straight non-conference home games. Chris Oakes tallied 12 points and 10 rebounds in the loss for San Jose State (1-1), which got 11 points and 10 boards from Tim Pierce. Nebraska outscored San Jose State 30-9 over the final 15 minutes of the first half, and the Cornhuskers led 38-20 at intermission. Despite hitting just 2-of-18 shots from the floor over the first 13 minutes of the second half, the Cornhuskers got on track down the stretch and won easily. Strong defense was clearly the key to the victory, as Nebraska recorded 16 steals and forced 25 turnovers. The Cornhuskers finished the tilt with a 41-16 advantage in bench points.
