UCLA QB Olson Out Two Months With Broken Foot

POSTED: 11:06 pm PDT August 12, 2008

(Sports Network) - UCLA senior starting quarterback Ben Olson is expected to miss two months after undergoing successful foot surgery Tuesday.

Olsen broke the fifth metatarsal in his right foot during practice Saturday. The 25-year-old suffered the very same injury April 24.

"It's a crushing blow to the young man," said Bruins head coach Rick Neuheisel. "He put so much time and effort into the program. Hopefully, his healing and rehab will go well and we'll get him back in the fold in early October."

Olson's latest setback is one of many that have plagued the signal-caller's UCLA career. The 6-foot-4, 230-pounder missed five games last season with a variety of ailments including a knee injury that forced him to miss four weeks. He was severely limited in three other contests as the Bruins finished a disappointing 6-7 (5-4 Pac-10).
