PORTLAND, Ore. -- A writer who had his laptop stolen is trying to track down the thief on Craigslist.Greg Halvorson said he had his unfinished novel saved on his stolen computer.Halvorson said the thief broke into his car in southeast Portland two weeks ago and stole nearly a year's worth of work.'You've gotta have some cojones to do that," Halvorson said. "Because if I would've caught them, I would've just gone football kickoff on them."
Halvorson says the thief may have tried to sell the stolen laptop online using Craigslist. Now, he has placed a Craigslist ad of his own to try to track down the missing computer and novel."I've heard of recoveries on Craigslist before, and I'm hoping someone who buys a Mac will look at the serial number and go 'That is that dude's serial number,'" Halvorson said.Halvorson said he's offering a reward for anyone who can help retrieve the laptop. Meanwhile, he's trying to stay positive despite all the hard work he has put into the novel."It's like running half or ¾ of a marathon and they picked you up in a car and whisked you back to the start," he said.Anyone with information on the theft is asked to call police.
