A teenage girl said she discovered a mouse in a movie theater bathroom Tuesday.

Stephenie Couch said her summer night at the movies came with an unexpected surprise at Regal Movies On TV on Southwest 234th Avenue.

"I was inside the girls' bathroom and I saw a little black thing running around," Couch said. "I went to go see what it was and it was a little mouse."

Officials with the Regal corporate office said managers were taking aggressive steps to take care of the problem.

"The managers at Movies On TV are aware of a mouse sighting and therefore have taken further precautions, working with the experts at our environmental services company," the company said in a statement.

Couch said she told a theater employee about the sighting. She said the employee acted as if the rodent was an ordinary problem.

"It was just really disgusting and unsanitary," she said. "I don't really feel like watching a movie with rats running around everywhere."

Couch also said she had another rodent encounter not long ago.

"A month ago in the main entrance, my friend and I were just standing there and a rat fell from the ceiling," she said.

Couch said health department officials contacted her Thursday and said they would inspect the theater.
