BEAVERTON, Ore. -- Vandals struck Beaverton and Tigard neighborhoods, leaving behind graffiti on private and public properties.Victims angered by the graffiti call it an eyesore and now they have to clean it all up.Police said the latest round of graffiti is consistent with what gang members do to mark their territory, but neighbors said it's just plain vandalism, and it needs to stop.A Beaverton city employee who was cleaning graffiti off a wall said that there have been at least 10 incidents over the last three days.
"It takes a lot of work to clean off the paint," a former graffiti victim named Todd said.It also takes a lot of money to clean up areas hit by graffiti.Between July 2006 and July 2007 Beaverton had 632 cases of graffiti reported, which cost $52,000 to clean off.But victims said although it's expensive, you should clean off graffiti as soon as you see it, or you'll get hit again."One time I did leave it on, and a week later I got more graffiti." Todd said. For more information about graffiti removal, visit the Beaverton Graffiti Removal Web site.
