TIGARD, Ore. -- Police are searching for vandals who used watermelons to damage cars sometime early Wednesday morning in the Bull Mountain neighborhood.

Someone smashed windshields and dented cars with heavy watermelons, police said.

One neighbor said he woke up Wednesday to find his Cadillac had been hit.

"I thought at first maybe somebody had a grudge or something, but when I called the police to report it, they called me back and said there were four other incidents in the area and I know it was just some crazy kids," victim Ralf Caliebe said.

Caliebe said he thinks the damage to his car will cost him more than $2,000.
