ALBANY, Ore. -- Someone waited until it was dark to break out the windows of at least six cars in Albany, police said.

The attack happened sometime Sunday night or Monday morning, police said.

The vandalism spree was a huge inconvenience for car owners.

In at least one case, police said they think the vandal shot out a window with a BB gun since they found two BBs in the car.

Police said they think the vandal shot the window while driving by.

In other cases, police said they think the vandal used a baseball bat or something similar to smash the windows.

Neighbors said their area is usually very peaceful.

"We've been here seven years and we've had one outboard motor stolen from the back of a rowboat and that's it. No one's really messed with anyone else," neighbor Jamie Corwin said.

The only good news was that the vandal never actually went into the cars to steal anything, police said.
