DAMASCUS, Ore. -- It's the burgers that drive business at McDonald's restaurants, but one man at the drive-through window in Damascus didn't have food on the brain last month.Clackamas County deputies said a man cut off the padlock to a collection box for the Ronald McDonald House charity on June 15.In one of the surveillance photos, the suspected thief seemed to use a bolt cutter.Customers said they doubt the thief knew what he was really stealing.
"If it's a person who's really desperately in need, they're just going for the cash," said customer Patty Boyd.Deputies said the theft happened at the McDonald's restaurant off Highway 212 sometime after midnight on June 15.The donation boxes were no longer at the restaurant Tuesday, but customers said that won't solve the crime problem."You can think you're safe and nothing is going to happen, but it does happen and in your back yard," Boyd said.Investigators believe the man in the photos is in his 20s. Anyone with information is asked to call the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office.
