Man Cuts GPS Bracelet, Skips Sentencing

Authorities Say Man 'Sexually Fixated With Children'

A man cut off his GPS anklet and fled his Portland home Saturday to escape his sentencing on child pornography charges Monday, federal authorities said.

Paul Eric Presley, 47, pleaded guilty to child pornography charges in March and was free on bond but was required to wear a GPS anklet, police said.

Prosecutors were asking for a 71-month sentence for Presley, who was found to have 2,900 images and 235 movies of child pornography on his computer.

Since Presley failed to appear for his hearing, he may now be charged with a separate crime punishable by up to 10 years in prison, prosecutors said.

Prosecutors were asking for a sentence at the high end of the sentencing guidelines for Presley's crime because they said he “is sexually fixated with children."

"He has downloaded, stored, and viewed thousands of images of child pornography,” according to a statement released by prosecutors.

Presley was arrested when his wife discovered some of the pictures on his computer and called 911, police said. She informed officers that he had child pornography on both his desktop computer and laptop computer.

His wife said in March that the pictures were so graphic that she didn't give him a chance to explain before calling police.

According to investigators, Presley's teenage daughter came forward with the laptop the next day and said that he had given her the computer and told her to dispose of it.

Prosecutors said evidence suggested that Presley was openly sexually interested in at least one member of his own family.

Anyone with knowledge of Presley’s whereabouts should call 911 or contact the FBI at 360-695-5661.
