GRESHAM, Ore. -- Gresham police are searching for a man suspected of shooting his estranged girlfriend four times in front of their 1-year-old child.Officers were called to the Townfair Apartment Complex on Wallula Street at 9:06 p.m. on Friday, when residents told police they saw a man shoot a woman inside the clubhouse of the apartments.When police arrived, they found 21-year-old Maria Barajas-Damian suffering from gunshot wounds outside the clubhouse. Her 1-year-old child was found nearby, police said.Marcelino Diaz-Rivera, 37, had been bringing back his child after visitation when he and Barajas-Damian became involved in an argument, according to a press release from the Gresham Police Department. Barajas-Damian told police that the argument led Diaz-Rivera to shoot her, police said.Witnesses said Diaz left the scene in a black Ford truck after the shooting. Police later located the truck during their investigation.Diaz-Rivera, who lives in Portland, has family in Hermiston and California and may be headed out of the Portland metro area, police said. A warrant has been issued for his arrest. Anyone with information is asked to call 911 or the Gresham Police Department.Barajas-Damian is being treated for her injuries at an area hospital. Her child has been placed with family.
