Longview police are searching for a man who was sentenced to 10 years in prison for the death of his infant daughter.

Benjamin Pingle, 26, was convicted last year on manslaughter charges in the death of Justice Pingle, one of his twin 3-month-old daughters. He was also convicted of third-degree assault for injuries to Justice's sister.

Pingle appealed the court's decision and was freed on a $250,000 appeal bond in June 2008. Family members and Pingle's bail bondsman said they haven't heard from him in more than two weeks.

Holly Bishop, who owns Bishop Bail Bonds in Longview and is carrying Pingle's appeal bond, said the co-signer on the bond is Cordell Stone, Pingle's grandfather.

"The co-signers are the ones that have the assets and the ability to keep track of it," Bishop said.

Stone reported his grandson missing last week and a judge later issued a no-bail warrant for Pingle's arrest.

"They are shocked and amazed because he's just not that type of individual -- all of a sudden he drops out of sight," Bishop said.

Stone did not want to speak on camera, but he believes Pingle is innocent in his daughter's death. However, he wants Pingle to comply with the law while waiting for his appeal.

Bishop hopes someone can help track down Pingle's location.

"If they know where he is, give Longview police a call so they can begin research on it," Bishop said.

Stone said Pingle's disappearance could be related to his wife filing for divorce.
