TIGARD, Ore. -- A Beaverton woman was beaten and a chunk of her hair was ripped out by an attacker in a Tigard parking lot Monday. The woman called 911 from the Pacific Medical Group on Pacific Highway at 9:30 a.m. She told a dispatcher she was robbed by an unknown man armed with a pistol. The victim spoke with a FOX 12 reporter, but did not want to use her name. She said the armed man approached her and beat her when she told him she didn't have any money."When I didn't have any money, he kept hitting me and hitting me and hitting me," she said. The victim said she lost her voice while screaming for help. She was eventually able to break away and run to safety.Police who responded to the robbery said they were unable to find the man. He is described as white and about 5 feet 8 inches to 5 feet 10 inches tall with a thin build. He is in his mid-20s and had short brown hair, officers said. During the robbery, he wore a blue baseball cap with a logo on it, a dark T-shirt and pants.Paramedics took the victim, who works at the clinic, to a hospital to be treated after the attack. She has since been released.People in the area said they were surprised the crime would happen near a busy street in the morning."The guy probably had a drug problem. But that usually doesn't happen around here," said Jamal McKinstry, who works nearby. "I've lived in this area 21 years -- my whole life. My mom, my family members all come around here and do their thing."A vehicle linked to the robbery is described as a silver, tan or gold SUV similar to a Toyota 4Runner. It may have a spare tire attached to the rear bumper. The victim made a plea for help Wednesday, asking for witnesses to come forward."If anyone knows anything or has any clues or has seen the vehicle, call the police," she said. "It was senseless."Tigard police said they're still investigating the case. Anyone with information is asked to call 503-629-0111.
