VANCOUVER, Wash. -- Children at a child care center were disappointed after vandals smashed the windows in their bus.It was discovered Thursday morning that overnight someone threw bottles at the bus that was parked in the Vancouver Heights Methodist Church parking lot, breaking the windows."Glass was everywhere. It's in the seats, the seat belts and on the floor. So it's going to be forever, getting all that sucked out of there," day care director Dorene Brugman said. Many of the children were supposed to visit Oregon Museum of Science and Industry to see the museum's crime scene investigation exhibit and other displays but weren't able to go because of the damage to the day care's bus."Apparently they threw a bottle. You can see it shattered, and scarred up the paint," Brugman said.A glass repair man said it may take a few days to find the replacement windows and install them."It's going to take until next week until they get things replaced. Summer is the time we do all our fields trips with school age kids. We have about 75 kids we take to different places during the week," Brugman said. This wasn't the first time the Learning Avenues Child Care Center's been vandalized."A year ago someone had vandalized our other bus by lighting a fire by one of the tires and melting it. The fire burned up the sides, so the fire department had to come out in the middle of the night. And they had to break the windows 'cause smoke was filling the bus. So we had to get rid of that bus," Brugman said.
