GRESHAM, Ore. -- Two girls walking down a jogging path late Friday night were robbed by two other teenagers, one of whom was armed with a gun.Gresham police said that the robbers ran toward nearby Reynolds Middle School after the incident. The victims said the incident occurred at about 9:30 p.m.The two eighth-grade girls said they were only a few hundred feet away from the school when they noticed they were being followed."All of a sudden we turned around and there's people -- these two guys -- following us," said one of the victims, who did not want to be identified. The girls said they were forced to the ground and that one of the robbers following them had a shotgun. They said the pair demanded cash, searched their pockets and found nothing but a lighter.Officers used a K-9 to search for the pair, but they remained at large as of Saturday evening.Police describe the robbers as black and about 17 years old. One of the teens wore a blue bandanna and had black paint under his eye.The jogging and bicycling path is located near Northeast Halsey Street and 201st Avenue. Bonnie Gross, who lives nearby, said crime in the area has forced her to rethink walking at night."(It's) to the point where if I could, I would move," Gross said. "Except I like my street. I like my neighbors. I like the neighborhood, but it's just gotten bad lately. I would not go out and walk at night."Anyone with information is asked to call Gresham police.
