PORTLAND, Ore. -- More than 100 people gathered Thursday night for a memorial remembering a man who was shot while tending a southeast Portland market.Chester Yeom died last week from a viral infection. He had been paralyzed since 2007 when a robber shot Yeom in the neck during a botched robbery.FOX 12 Report:
Family Remembers Shooting VictimYeom was only tending to the store while the owner had left on an errand.
Jeffrey Yeom, Chester's son, said his father influenced many people."He was a caring father," Jeffrey Yeom said. "He was generous and always willing to help others … I am just blessed to have him as my dad."Jimmy Kashi, the man who shot Yeom during the robbery, was convicted earlier this year. He is serving a 35-year prison sentence.After Yeom's death, the Multnomah County District Attorney's Office said it plans to seek aggravated murder charges against Kashi.
