PORTLAND, Ore. -- A woman came face to face with a burglar inside her southeast Portland home Wednesday morning.Katleen Platt said she woke up at 8:30 a.m. to the sound of someone knocking on her door. When she went to answer it, there was no one there."I went back in my room, closed the door and I went back to sleep," Platt said.Thirty minutes later, she woke up again -- this time to the sound of her bedroom door opening.
"I could kind of sense somebody was in the house," Platt said. "I know I should've tried to close the door, but I had no way to lock it so I confronted him instead."Platt said she confronted the intruder in the hallway outside her bedroom."I asked him, 'Who are you and what do you want?'" Platt said. "He said, 'I got the wrong house. I was after somebody who owned me money. Don't look at me or I'm going to hurt you.'"Platt said she believes the burglar's story because he had the opportunity to steal a medication, car keys, checkbooks and cash."I don't know why he was walking around my house for a half-hour and he didn't steal anything," she said. "He must have been on drugs or something."The burglar entered the woman's house by breaking the lock off the window. The woman said the burglar never allowed her to get a good look at her. He's described as 6 feet tall and skinny, and he wore blue clothing during the burglary.Platt said the man sounded like he was in his teens or early 20s. Anyone with information is asked to call Portland police.
