VANCOUVER, Wash. -- Deputies said a Clark County man was arrested after they caught him trying to have sex with a teenage girl.

Investigators said Michael Updike was arrested on charges of attempted rape and incest after a family member made an emotional 911 call and told dispatchers he caught Updike trying to rape the teenager.

Clark County deputies said when they arrived at the home they found Updike and the alleged victim both partially dressed on a patio.

According to court records, Updike, who was in court Monday, is a self-employed landscaper who in the past may have had an alcohol problem.

In 2003, Updike faced charges for assault and violating a protection order, according to court documents.

However, neighbors said Monday afternoon that they were shocked at Updike's arrest and said he was a quiet guy.

The case is still under investigation and more charges could follow.
