Man Sought In Mugging At Portland ATM

POSTED: 8:19 am PDT July 2, 2009

Police are searching for a man who robbed someone at an ATM in north Portland.

The mugging occurred outside the U.S. Bank on Interstate Avenue and Going Street on Tuesday night. Police said the victim was trying to deposit money in the ATM before being mugged.

The robber ran off before police could arrive.

Bank customers said the crime comes as no surprise.

"I don't come at night just because Interstate brings a lot of people off the MAX so it can get kind of scary," said customer Ryan McFallo.

Officers haven't released a description of the wanted man. Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to call the Portland Police Bureau.
