Doctors Test Light To Destroy Tumors

Cancer Could Be Vulnerable To Lasers

Scientists have developed a treatment they said could destroy cancer with laser light, according to a report from IndiaTimes.com.

The report says that British doctors plan to start clinical tests of a technique called photodynamic therapy, or PDT.

In PDT, a drug would be injected that makes cancer cells sensitive to light.

When a low-level laser is shot at a tumor through the skin, the cells destroy themselves.

The report did not include information on what previous testing had been conducted or what kinds of cancer the technique could treat.
