Nova Awards Announced For 2007

(Sports Network) - The Harness Tracks of America announced Friday its 2007 divisional champions in 12 categories. The winners were voted on by the racing secretaries of the 44 member tracks.

Hambletonian winner Dnonato Hanover is the champion three-year-old male trotter. He won 11 of 13 starts for a single season record $2.33 million. Trained by Steve Elliott and driven by Ron Pierce, the colt registered wins in the World Trotting Derby and Canadian Trotting Classic. He began the year with 11 straight wins, but was upset in the Breeders Crown.

The champion three-year-old male pacer is Tell All. Tell All won the Little Brown Jug in 2007 and finished the year with $1.5 million in 22 starts and 12 victories.

Mister Big has been named the top older male pacer and Moving Pictures is the champion older female pacer. Mister Big, owned by Joe Muscara, won 12 of 28 races for $1.31 million. The Canadian owned Moving Pictures earned $826,577 with nine wins in 17 starts.

The champion three-year-old female pacer is Southwind Tempo who earned $863,604 while winning 16 of 21 races.

Pampered Princess, owned by Robert and David Anderson, is the champion three- year-old female trotter for 2007. The filly recorded six wins in 15 starts for more than $1 million.

The older trotters for 2007 are Vivid Photo and Mystical Sunshine. A former Hambletonina champ, Vivid Photo won seven of 15 starts for $738,769. Top trotting female Mystical Sunshine earned $337,070 with eight wins in 19 races.

In the two-year-old pacing categories, the undefeated Somebeachsomewhere is the champion male and A and G'sconfusion is the champion female. Somebeachsomewhere earned $773,296 for trainer Jean Louis Arsenault and Schooner Stables. Trained by Mark Capone, A And G'sconfusion won five of 10 starts for $817,020.

Snow White, winner of the Breeders Crown, has been named champion two-year-old female trotter for 2007. She earned $1.25 million in her first year of racing while winning 11 of 13 starts.

Breeders Crown winner Deweycheatumnhowe is champion two-year-old male trotter. He won all 10 starts for $936,191.

The Nova awards will be presented to owners of the sports brightest stars on Tuesday, February 19, at the historic Renaissance Vinoy hotel in St. Petersburg, FL.
