White Sox Offer Cabrera Arbitration

POSTED: 10:24 am PST December 2, 2008

(Sports Network) - The Chicago White Sox have offered salary arbitration to free agent shortstop Orlando Cabrera.

A 12-year veteran with a career .274 batting average, Cabrera hit eight home runs and drove in 57 runs while batting .281 in 161 games for the White Sox in 2008 -- his first season with Chicago after being acquired from the Los Angeles Angels on November 19, 2007.

Cabrera has 105 home runs and 684 RBI in his career while playing for the Montreal Expos, Boston Red Sox, Angels and White Sox.

As a Type A free agent, Cabrera has until December 7 to accept the offer, or the White Sox will receive two draft picks as compensation in 2009.
