PORTLAND, Ore. -- Scammers appear to be looking to cash in on the financial crisis with an old scam that has a new twist.E-mails sent to the FOX 12 newsroom Sunday listed Chase Bank in the from field of the e-mail and a subject of "You Have 1 new ALERT message."The body of the e-mail reads:
Dear Customer,You have one new message at: JPMorgan ChaseINBOXTo read the message, the e-mail asks readers to click on a link provided in the e-mail.The e-mail is a phishing scam, where the sender poses as a company in hopes of tracking users into giving away personal or account information.Several examples of the phishing e-mails are listed on J.P. Morgan's official Web site. At the top of the site, a message to customers says "Chase will never ask for your PIN or password over the telephone or by e-mail."If customers are suspicious a bank e-mail is a scam, they should call their bank and report the e-mail.
