NBA Game Summary - Oklahoma City At LA Clippers

POSTED: 10:32 pm PDT April 15, 2009

(Sports Network) - Kevin Durant had 26 points and nine rebounds to lead the Oklahoma City Thunder in a 126-85 rout of the Los Angeles Clippers to close out the season at Staples Center.

Oklahoma City avoided the season sweep and finished 1-3 against LA.

Jeff Green added 19 points and Nick Collison 17 for the Thunder (23-59), who lost six of eight to close out their inaugural season in Oklahoma City. Earl Watson chipped in 16 points and 14 assists, while Russell Westbrook ended with 14 and seven.

D.J. White recorded a career-high 15 points and 11 boards in the win.

Eric Gordon had 22 points for the Clippers (19-63), who had beaten the Thunder four straight times. Mike Taylor gave 15 points and Chris Kaman 13 in defeat.

LA dropped nine of its last 10 games to close the season.

"This was the icing on the cake of our season," said Clippers head coach Mike Dunleavy. "This couldn't get any worse; we made too many mistakes and had too many turnovers, which gave them easy layups and dunks."

The Thunder were on top 28-21 after the first quarter. Then Oklahoma City embarked on an epic 21-9 run to take control of the game.

Watson's jumper sparked the surge and White's dunk closed it out with about four minutes left in the second to make it 49-29. The visitors were on top, 60-39, at the break.

"We had a great effort tonight," said Thunder head coach Scott Brooks, who learned earlier Wednesday he will be retained as the team's coach next season. "We really wanted to come out with great energy and pride, and we did that tonight. We want to keep building a strong foundation."

LA's deficit hovered in the 20s throughout the third quarter, and the Thunder were ahead 92-63 headed to the fourth. The Clippers failed to threaten from there.

Game Notes:

Oklahoma City's 126 points was a season high...Three of LA's 19 wins this season came against the Thunder...The Thunder hit 53.9 percent of their shots, while the Clips hit at a 43.8 percent clip.
