Authorities have arrested one man and are searching for another in connection with a shootout with a Vancouver homeowner Monday night.

Officers said the homeowner surprised two burglars inside his home on Northeast Benton Drive around 7 p.m. The homeowner told authorities that he confronted the burglars and he exchanged gunfire with the two men.

A man, identified as 24-year-old Maurice West, later walked into a Portland emergency room Monday night with a gunshot wound.

After further investigation, West was booked on a warrant for burglary charges and is currently being held at the Multnomah County Jail pending extradition to Wash.

Police are still looking for the other man, who they said drove away from the house in a gray SUV.
