'Idol' Hopeful Faces Questions About Past

UPDATED: 2:06 pm PST January 19, 2007

Local "American Idol" hopeful Tommy Daniels was forced to answer questions about his criminal past Thursday.

On Wednesday, “Idol” aired its Seattle auditions, in which Daniels earned praise from the judges -- and a ticket to Hollywood -- for his singing performance.

But on Thursday, Daniels confirmed a criminal history that included drunken driving and hit-and-run charges.

In 2004, Daniels, who currently lives in Corbett, was convicted of driving under the influence. He was in trouble with the law again in 2005, when he was accused of a hit-and-run.

Daniels told FOX 12 that both charges were mistakes he made when he was young.

He also said he was completely honest with “American Idol” producers about his past.

TMZ.com broke the story about Daniels' criminal history Thursday.
