Teens Charged With Forest Grove Gang Graffiti

POSTED: 12:35 pm PST January 22, 2007
UPDATED: 2:21 pm PST January 22, 2007

Two teenagers were charged with spray-painting gang graffiti near a Forest Grove park Sunday.

Police said the teens, ages 13 and 14, contributed to a number graffiti incidents in the area of Lincoln Park, where authorities said 15 to 20 incidents occurred between Jan. 9 and Jan. 19.

Although the graffiti was gang-related, police said neither boy was affiliated with a gang. Instead, the teens were copying gang graffiti they had seen in another part of Forest Grove, authorities said.

The 13-year-old boy was charged with eight counts of criminal mischief, while the 14-year-old boy was charged with four counts. Both teens were referred to the Washington County Juvenile Court.

Police said a third suspect has been identified, but has not been located.
