A two-alarm fire forced the evacuation of an Oregon City nursing home Friday.

Firefighters responded to a fire alarm at Mountain View Rehab & Living, located at 1400 Division St. in Oregon City, at 12:18 p.m.

After they arrived, crews transported 79 patients out of the facility. Residents -- many of them in wheelchairs and hospital beds -- were taken to nearby Gillman Park Care Center and Willamette Falls Hospital.

The fire originated in a void space in the attic. Firefighters located, contained and extinguished the fire within 30 minutes, according to fire officials.

Forty-five firefighters responded to the two-alarm fire.

Due to damage, residents were unable to return to the facility.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
