Puppy Hanged; Police Search For Leads

Police are investigating a case of animal cruelty in Vancouver after someone killed a couple’s pit bull puppy.

On Feb. 7, investigators said someone went into Adrian and Totiana Hayes’ backyard on East 18th Street while no one was home and hung their four-month-old puppy from a tree with his leash.

The couple found their pet, named Hercules, when they came home from work.

“He was hanging there and I couldn’t do anything but drop and cry,” said owner Totiana Hayes.

The next day, the couple said they found a mysterious letter in their mailbox, warning them to take better care of their dogs. Police are holding the letter as evidence.

It’s been just over two weeks since the couple found their dog dead and they’ve since bought a new puppy to help them and their other dog, Zeus, heal.

Police said there are currently no leads in the case.

Anyone with information is urged to call Vancouver police.
