A suspected trailer thief is in jail after a victim decides to take matters into his own hands, pollice said.Police said 37-year-old Brian Judd was arrested Saturday morning in Vancouver after he responded to a Craigslist.org want ad for a trailer. On Friday night, Brian McVay reported that his dump trailer worth $6,000 was missing from a house site he was fixing up to the Clark County Sheriff’s Office and asked if they’d take part in his "get even" scheme.McVay posted a want ad on Craigslist, asking for a trailer, hoping to draw out his own thief. Instead, McVay helped police and another victim.
"A gentleman called me and said, 'I’ve got the same trailer, you wouldn’t believe it,'" said McVay.Investigators said 37-year-old Brian Judd responded to the ad, saying he had a trailer for sale. It wasn’t McVay’s trailer, but police said it was recently stolen.McVay arranged to meet Judd, and although the trailer wasn’t McVay’s, it was reported stolen."Citizens are getting tired of being ripped off. You can lock it up all you want and they’ll figure it out. It’s time that citizens start watching each other’s backs," said McVay.Judd was arrested Saturday morning in Vancouver and faces charges of theft, resisting arrest and trying to run from police. He also had warrants for his arrest in connection with identity theft, forgery and theft, police said.Police usually tell people to leave the detective work to them, but this time they thanked McVay and said they could use more people willing to help.
