ARLINGTON, Ore. -- An Idaho teenager reached a speed of 153 mph during a 28-mile chase in eastern Oregon, police said Thursday.A 17-year-old from Star, Idaho, tried to use a stolen credit card to purchase gas for a 2006 Ford Mustang at about 7:30 a.m., according to police. After the attempt was reported, police tried to stop the teen’s car, but he allegedly avoided officers and headed east on Interstate 84.Officers then set up a spike strip that spiked a right tire on the Mustang, but the teen carried on for five more miles until the tire blew out, police said.Authorities said the driver then pulled onto the right shoulder near milepost 183 and surrendered.Police said the car was reported stolen from an unlocked garage at a home in Boise, Idaho. The chase was the second alleged high-speed, long-distance chase on Interstate 84 in as many days. On Wednesday, a man allegedly led police on a 52-mile chase through the Columbia Gorge.
