Officials released the 911 tapes from people who said they saw a local grandmother drive away from the scene of a crash with a woman on the hood of her car.

Dispatchers received several calls Wednesday afternoon when drivers reported seeing 69-year-old Virginia Martin driving away from Wy East Middle School with a woman on the hood of her car.

Police said the two women were picking up children at the school when Martin rear-ended the woman in front of her.

According to authorities, the two women argued over insurance information and Martin started to drive off. The woman somehow landed on Martin’s hood and hung on while Martin kept driving, police said

Martin told police the woman jumped on her hood and had plenty of chances to get off but refused.

Police said Martin drove a mile and a half down Mill Plain Boulevard with the woman holding onto her hood.

“The lady just got off the hood. Oh my God. The lady just tried to hit her again,” one of the 911 callers said.

“She’s riding on the hood because the old lady, everytime she gets off, the old lady runs into her,” said a second 911 caller. Listen To 911 Calls (.mp3)

Police said the alleged victim is OK.

Martin was charged with felony hit-and-run and assault.

She appeared in court on Thursday and is out on a $10,000 bail.
