‘Sophisticated’ Drug Ring Uncovered In Corvallis

CORVALLIS, Ore. -- Authorities raided three Corvallis-area businesses allegedly linked to a large-scale drug trafficking organization Wednesday.Officers searched La Poderosa Mexican Store and Gregorio’s Auto Body in Corvallis, as well as Del Valle Mexican Store in Independence. Police said the businesses were used as cover for the organization’s drug trafficking and money laundering operations.On a weekly basis, police said between 6 and 10 pounds of methamphetamine, as well as a half-kilo of cocaine, was distributed through the organization to buyers in the mid-Willamette Valley, according to police.A 16-month investigation helped police make several arrests Wednesday. The amount of drugs seized from the search warrants hasn’t been determined, according to police.Authorities said the investigation is ongoing and they anticipate more searches.Massive drug raids were also conducted in the Eugene area on Wednesday, when 31 people were arrested.Related story:
