Portland Police Seek Suspected Lottery Machine Thieves

PORTLAND, Ore. -- Police are searching for two men accused of breaking into several lottery machines at area businesses in recent weeks.Authorities said the men walk into restaurants and bars, sit down at lottery machines and then pry them open with a crowbar or other tool.The men take less than two minutes to pry the machine open and have taken thousands of dollars during their crime spree, according to police.Money was taken from lottery machines at The Wooden Chicken, located at 12500 N.E. Sandy Blvd., twice in a two-day span, officers said.
Police said the men also allegedly broke into machines at Bill’s Steakhouse at 10227 N.E. Sandy Blvd on March 9 and on Tuesday; Tic Toc, on Southeast 112th and Division streets, on March 12; and Firescape Bar, on Northeast 90th Street and Sandy Boulevard, on Wednesday.One man is described as white, in his 30s, 5 feet 9 inches tall and 220 pounds. He has brown hair and was last seen wearing long shorts and tennis shoes with a reflective strip down the top of each shoe, police said.Another man is described as white, between 20 and 30 years old, 5 feet 9 inches tall and 200 pounds.Police said the men may be driving a white 1992 Suzuki Samurai with a license plate of 788PHG.A $1,000 reward is being offered for information leading to an arrest in the case.
