A Hillsboro father faces charges, accused by police of letting his two children ride in the trunk of his car.

Washington County deputies arrested 40-year-old Douglas Willy on Saturday afternoon on two counts of reckless endangerment.

Authorities said they received a report that there were children in the trunk of a car driving on Highway 26 shortly after 12 p.m. on Saturday.

Deputies said they stopped Willy near Highway 26 and Chrysler Drive in unincorporated Washington County. Deputies said they found Willy’s two children, ages 12 and 13, traveling in the trunk of the car.

Police said Willy, his fiancée and their four children were apparently on a family trip to the beach.

According to police, Willy’s car could not accommodate all six passengers and Willy made the decision for two of the children to ride in the trunk to Seaside.

The children had been riding in the trunk about 20 miles when authorities pulled the vehicle over.
