Police: Homeowner Shoots At Intruder

Police responded to a report of a homeowner who allegedly shot at an intruder Monday in southeast Portland.

Police said Sean Newsome, 30, and one other person broke into a home near Southeast 160th Avenue and Powell Boulevard. Newsome and the victim

Officers said Newsome ran from the home but a K-9 unit found him a short time later. He was taken to the hospital for treatment of an asthma attack.

Police said Newsome is a Bloods gang member from Los Angeles and that the gang enforcement team has taken over the investigation.

Newsome is facing charges of robbery and felon in possession of a firearm.

Officers said they think more people may have been involved. Witnesses reported seeing an SUV drive away with three or four people inside. Anyone with information is urged to call Portland police.
