Detectives found 29 marijuana plants during a search of a southeast Salem home, the Marion County Sheriff's Office said Monday.

Authorities said James Harry Taylor, 52, holds a valid medical marijuana card, but that he was out of compliance with the restrictions of the program.

Card holders may grow up to six plants and possess up to 24 ounces of dried marijuana, deputies said. A card holder can also apply as a caregiver, allowing the holder to possess marijuana for up to four other people who have medical marijuana cards.

Taylor only had a medical marijuana card for himself, according to deputies.

Investigators searched his home on Macleay Road Southeast at about 3:30 p.m. They said they found 19 mature marijuana plants in the garage and 10 starter plants inside the home.

The investigation was the result of drug activity complaints received by Marion County authorities.
