Two Arrested In Bend Hit-And-Run Case

BEND, Ore. -- A father and son were arrested Wednesday in connection with the hit-and-run death of a Bend bicyclist.On Tuesday afternoon, Bend police responded to Southeast Third Street near Powers Road, where they said bicyclist Kimberly Potter was struck from behind by a northbound vehicle.Witnesses said the vehicle, later identified as a 2000 Mercedes-Benz sedan, was damaged in the collision, but continued driving.On Wednesday, police arrested George Goodson, of San Diego, and his son Christopher Goodson, of El Cajon, Calif.
Police said Christopher Goodson was the driver of the car when Potter was hit. They also said they found a large quantity of cocaine, weight scales, cash and a loaded firearm in an apartment where he was hiding.He faces several charges, including manslaughter, criminally negligent homicide, assault, conspiracy to commit arson, reckless driving and reckless endangering.At a different location, investigators said they found the burnt remains of the Mercedes sedan that was driven in the hit-and-run collision.George Goodson, who allegedly reported the Mercedes stolen, was arrested on charges of hindering prosecution and attempted aggravated theft.
