A local company is claiming they have a new tracking system that could save lives and prevent future campus attacks.

A Portland-based surveillance company called Milestone has developed software that allows schools to watch almost every corner of a campus by linking thousands of cameras together to be viewed from almost anywhere there’s an Internet connection.

The software can lock and unlock doors during emergency situations, search for a suspect’s face using a face recognition program and look for a car’s license plate.

Milestone’s president, Eric Fullerton, is an advocate for campus-wide surveillance systems.

Fullerton said there are about 100 to 150 schools currently using their system.
