An estimated 300 employees are out of work after a Beaverton call center abruptly closed its doors on Wednesday.Employees at the Encompass Call Center were sent home on Wednesday after a computer problem. They said managers told them they could return to work on Thursday.Court documents show that Encompass first filed for bankruptcy in late March.Employees said the company has had financial trouble before, but they were promised they would still have jobs. However, Encompass filed Chapter 7 bankruptcy late Wednesday afternoon, which requires the company to sell off everything to pay its debt.According to court documents, Encompass owed the Internal Revenue Service more than $120,000.“I felt really betrayed, because they had to know what was going on,” said former employee Karla Cowley. “They had to know we’re closing.”Some employees told FOX 12 that banks aren’t cashing Encompass checks.FOX 12 contacted the company’s attorney to see if employees are being paid, but he did not return our call.
