A bicyclist was killed by a passing car Saturday afternoon in Washington County.

A group of five bicyclists were riding south on Cornelius-Schefflin Road, preparing to turn east onto Northwest Long Road.

As 66-year-old Timothy O'Donnell, of Aloha, signaled to turn, a car began to pass the group and struck him, authorities said. The collision occurred in a no-passing zone, according to sheriff’s deputies.

"We were getting ready to look back over our shoulder to make sure we could make a safe left turn, and the car was there," said Martin Obrando, a fellow rider. "I didn't even hear it come up on me."

Obrando said he was the last of five riders in the group, while O'Donnell was second in line.

The driver of the car, Jennifer Knight, of Hayden, Idaho, was cited on charges of driving while suspended, careless driving and passing in a no passing zone.
