UPDATED: 10:25 am PDT June 15, 2007

Two Beaverton schools were in lockout Friday morning while police searched for a boy allegedly seen carrying an air pistol.

Officers said the boy is believed to be about 10 to 12 years old and was last seen near Denny Road and Highway 217.

Police are checking the streets near Whitford Middle School and McKay Elementary School, which remained in lockout until 9:30 a.m. as a precaution.

Police said the boy could face charges under a new Beaverton city ordinance that bans carrying any type of air pistol in public.

FOX 12 and KPTV.com will update as more information becomes available.
