Oregon Gov. Ted Kulongoski and North Carolina Gov. Mike Easley placed a friendly wager on the College World Series championship Friday.

Oregon State University and University of North Carolina's baseball teams will square off in the College World Series beginning Saturday in Omaha, Neb.

On Friday, Kulongoski predicted a Beavers win and bet a basket of products made in Oregon, including a sampling of Pacific seafood, local cheeses, craft beers and hazelnuts.

Meanwhile, Easley wagered one pound of barbecue, one bottle of barbecue sauce and one pint of slaw from Wilber's Barbecue of Goldsboro, N.C., and the Barbecue Center Inc., of Lexington, N.C. He also bet a case of Cheerwine.

The Tar Heels (57-14) and Beavers (47-18) will meet in the finals for the second year in a row. A year ago, Oregon State capped a dramatic postseason run by defeating North Carolina.

The first game of the best-of-three series will be televised on ESPN at 4 p.m. Saturday.
