BEAVERCREEK, Ore. -- Oregon Humane Society investigators are searching for a Beavercreek woman accused of neglecting two horses.

The horses were severely underweight -- one of them by 250 pounds -- when they were seized from the home of Shellie Ann Anderson on Feb. 16, according to the humane society.

Anderson is wanted on animal neglect charges and has failed to respond to all requests to appear in court, according to OHS lead investigator Mark Wells. Animal neglect is punishable by a fine of up to $2,500 and six months in jail for each violation.

After seizing the horses in February, the horses were placed in the care of the humane society's Livestock Rescue Network, a group formed after a string of prominent horse neglect and abuse cases in 2006.

The horses have since returned to a healthy weights.

After a court order issued Thursday by the Clackamas County Circuit Court, the humane society is searching for permanent homes for the horses.
