Statement from Bales Thriftway Representative Craig Allen: “I did see the list of items you referenced from your investigation and was very disappointed in our operation for letting this happen.

“We certainly understand the freshness issues associated with products that are past the "best used by date" as well as close coded products and it is our policy not to sell any items past the "best used by date" on the packages.

“We were definitely remiss in locating the product that was past the "best used by date" mentioned, especially in our dairy/deli department.

“We have since gone back to each of our stores and reminded them that they are not to sell any product past the "best used by date".

“While mistakes do happen, we are striving to deliver the freshest products we can to our customers and have recommitted ourselves to this fundamental task.”
