A Prosser, Wash., man is recovering from a rattlesnake bite he received after the reptile was beheaded.

Danny Anderson, 53, said he was feeding his horses earlier this week when a 5-foot-long rattler slithered onto his property.

The man said his son pinned the snake with a pipe and cut its head off with a shovel. However, when Anderson reached down to pick up the head, he said it twisted around and bit his finger.

In the 10 minutes it took to transport Anderson to nearby Prosser Memorial Hospital, the venom had spread through his body and his tongue had already started to swell.

Anderson has been treated with several shots of anti-venom at the hospital and nearby medical center.
